Our Story

Our Founder, Shaz Tayebi, was inspired to start Mama Milk Innovations because of all the struggles her clients and new moms were experiencing.

In her work as a lactation consultant for over 32 years, Shaz witnessed first-hand the damaged nipples, inflamed breast tissue, anxiety/depression, gassy and colicky babies and the struggles new families were going through with existing technology.

Dire innovation was needed in this field, and the ideal solution was no where to be found – so Shaz made it her mission to create the solution and design based on natural processes.

Our Team

Shahrzad "Shaz" Tayebi, IBCLC, CST

Founder & CPO

Shaz is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and former Midwife with 32+ years of experience in lactation.

Shaz was inspired to start Mama Milk Innovations after witnessing the severe damage being experienced by mothers, babies, and overall families due to existing breast pumps and baby soothers.

Vivek Balasubramanyam

Co-founder & CEO

Vivek brings 20 years+ experience in medical device development and commercialization to the Mama Milk Innovations team.

Holding a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Vivek offers deep technical expertise alongside strategic insight. He advises on product development, regulatory pathways, and business strategy.

Jonathan Tippett

Co-founder & CTO

Jonathan is an experienced engineer with over 26 years of experience in product development.

With 5 patents under his belt and having developed Exosapien Technologies, Jonathan brings his design expertise to the Mama Milk Innovations team.

Busayo Afolabi

Product Development Engineer

Busayo joins the Mama Milk Innovations team with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, and key experience in research, prototyping, and project management.

After working with Shaz for her final-year undergraduate project, Busayo continued her work with Mama Milk Innovations as a Product Development Engineer.
